We were extremely excited to be asked by Verve Records to commission a remix for a very special artist: Nina Simone. A musical storyteller, an unbelievable talent, and someone who created love, passion, liberation and empowerment through her records and actions. ‘My Baby Just Cares For Me’ needed a remixer to not only flip this original but to really unearth the magic that Nina delivered in her records. We pitched HONNE to create a beautiful version of this bluesy swinging groove of Nina’s. They did just that creating a track for Nina’s vocals with dreamy guitars and real-life upbeat drums.
We were thrilled to deliver this remix which was greatly received and released as a single and then, later on, became part of Nina’s own compilation Feeling Good: Greatest Hits And Remixes alongside works from Joel Corry, Sofi Tukker, Rudimental, & Hot Chip.
